As I drink my robust brew,
light lances through the murky trees
in my window view.
Creation's testament reads true.
Caffeine mirrors the bitter bite
of my emotions,
but one ray of light
lifts my eyes,
teasing hope into raising its weary head
once more,
a quiet surprise.
Some unknown purpose still awaits
although I see not its gate
in the tangle
that entraps
and trips
my going-forward steps,
striving toward space
where I know Your face.
Lingering in this silent place,
in the dark I grope;
I will trust and rest and
dust off my hopes.
At the end of myself,
my silence is a waiting prayer
in a journal on the shelf,
looking for the emergence of Your way,
One step, one ray.
"...it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord." ~Lamentations 3:26
"Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him." ~Isaiah 64:4
